Anyone who has searched for a job has heard these cliches in one form or another. I’d like to start of by shouting out fellow XboxLive players: RK0 LegendKilla, Enyce24, and Doug Y Funnie. Up until now I, like most of us, have this image of playing online as just some loud trash talking palooza that you had to endure in order to get even the slightest satisfaction of getting a game in. Then once the game commences, the fear of betrayals(From the Halo days) due to pre-game trash talking, always lingered in the back of your head. Not to mention the possible saboteur that may be lurking on your squad.
This was not the case on Monday night. No, this night was different. The lights were dimmed, headset cranked and although there was tons of trash talking, none of the usual shenanigans occurred. No one complained about being first in kill/death and the rest of his/her “team” bringing him down. Needless to say, I had probably the best outing thus far in Modern Warfare 2. I am fully aware its a competition and that I may just suck. However, isn’t this what online team gaming was meant to be? It is called team-deathmatch is it not? Accolades and kudos are definitely deserving to those beasts on the team. But there is just a certain satisfaction in being part of a winning team in which everyone played a roll and did it well.
I do care deeply about my kill death ratio, and leveling up. Last I checked, you also get points for winning. So I salute you one man army killers out there that help us civilian players in this game or any other team game for that matter.
